Role-playing activities allow us to simulate real-life situations, where children must use their English language skills to achieve a goal previously set by the teacher.

The children have fun while practicing English!

(I have imagined three different situations for the students to choose the one they want).

Hello guys!

In this activity, you will imagine a real-life situation: you have a problem and you want to solve it.

You can choose any situation you like; you can choose from three different scenarios.

You will work in pairs and each one will be a character

First scenario: HOTEL

Character A: You go to a hotel and when you get to your room, the window won't open,

the TV doesn't work, there's no hot water, and it's freezing cold. You go down to reception

to complain.

Character B: You work at a hotel reception desk; you need to be very polite and respectful

to guests. There are no more rooms available in the hotel. Try to find a solution for your

guest.

Second Scenario: SUPERMARKET

Character A: You call your supermarket by phone and say you want to speak to the manager because he's a

friend. You ask how he is, you chat for a bit, and finally you tell him you need to buy

milk, water, ham, sugar, and a pizza. But you need it delivered because you're sick and

can't leave the house.

Character B: You're the manager of a supermarket, happy to talk to your friend and want

to help him, but unfortunately the delivery truck is broken down and you can't deliver the

food to your friend. Think of a solution.

Third Scenario: PROBLEM WITH THE SECURITY GUARD

Character A: You're going to see a football match of your favorite team, but when you

arrive, the security guard asks you to take off your clothes to make sure you're not carrying

any weapons. You don't want to take off your coat because it's very cold. Try to convince

the guard that you're not carrying any bottles or anything dangerous.

Character B: You're the security guard and you don't want to be rude, but you have to convince this

person that he can't enter the stadium unless he take off his coat. Furthermore,

you suspect the ticket he has isn't genuine. Ask him questions to determine if he is lying

or telling the truth.
